Gordon has ministered at several Anglican churches in Sydney and, alongside his work with ETHOS, is now minister at Yarraville Anglican Church. He lectured at Morling College (Sydney) and has served as Director of the Centre for Applied Christian Ethics (CACE) at Ridley College, Macquarie Christian Studies Institute, and Urban Seed—a ministry of hospitality to the homeless. He lectures on ethical risk in finance at Macquarie University School of Applied Finance and is Ethicist for Christian Super.

Gordon is an international leader in workplace theology. He is a prolific writer, as author/editor of 11 books—most recently editing Bonhoeffer Down Under (with Ian Packer) and is currently writing a book on money and possessions. He is chief editor of Zadok Perspectives. Gordon is married to Susan, an asthma and mental health educator, and has three spirited twenty-ish children. He loves the world game and the Cats.
